Brian May auctioning his signed Pinkest Pink guitar for cancer charities – How to bid
- As featured on Express.co.uk

- Last year, Brian May and WOMAN released the charity single I’m A Woman featuring We Will Rock You alumni Mazz Murray, Kerry Ellis and more. The powerful rock chart No 1 was made in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness and saw Brian playing his Pinkest Pink electric guitar – made by the Queen legend’s very own brand in just two weeks. Now, as promised, the 73-year-old is auctioning off the instrument for women’s charities. The Pinkest of Pink! Alpha Auction for Brian’s signed guitar is being held to promote awareness and raise funds for The Carol Keating Foundation and Target Ovarian Cancer. The highest bidder not only gets their hands on the unique instrument but will also receive the guitar in person at the upcoming Alpha’s London Alive event on July 16, 2021. The band WOMAN are just one of a number of acts performing at the upcoming show. Gloria Hunniford, who started The Caron Keating Foundation with her sons after losing her daughter Caron to cancer, showed enthusiastic support for the auction. Express.co.uk caught up with Brian about the guitar featuring in the I’m A Woman music video last October. The 73-year-old said of the track: “It’s very down and dirty; it rocks hard and I love it!” On WOMAN, he added: “It was wonderful. The four of them together are an amazingly strong force. “They just make me laugh so much; they’re just full of pranks and laughter!” I’m A Woman’s inspiration was to create something special in the memory of Rebekah Gibbs, a fellow West End star like the singers in the band. Gibbs became a household name in TV soap Casualty before being diagnosed with Grade 3 breast cancer in 2009, and tragically died in 2014. Brian has used the Pinkest Pink guitar in other videos he’s shared on Instagram too. Most notably when giving his rendition of the Wellerman sea shanty made famous by Nathan Evans. Both Brian and Nathan have expressed interest in working together in the future. When Express.co.uk spoke to the Queen guitarist last, he told us: “I think it could happen. “We haven’t actually spoken, but we’ve both expressed an interest in doing something if the opportunity comes up. “To be honest I’m always wary of pushing myself... it’s nice when things happen naturally. But I really like what he’s done to the world of current music. A new fresh slant - but grounded in solid history.”
