After the resounding success of our first auction during the 2020 lockdowns, in which we raised a whopping £45,000 for Carers Trust, Alpha Auction is back again raising money for some incredible causes!

We are delighted to have teamed up with super group WOMAN and rock legend Brian May for a “Pinkest of Pink” auction of May’s unique guitar. May has generously donated the pink guitar that he used when recording and performing in the official music video for the charity single ‘I’m A Woman”, released in October 2020 in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Brian’s custom pink guitar will be signed and dedicated to the highest bidder, who will then see him use it live and be presented the guitar in person by Brian himself at the upcoming Alpha’s London Alive event on 16th July 2021 where Brian will be headlining the event with WOMAN. The WOMAN supergroup features four of rock musical theatre’s most powerful female voices and ‘We Will Rock You’ alumni – Mazz Murray (a long-standing friend of Alpha), Kerry Ellis, Gina Murray and Anna-Jane Casey.

The auction closes at midday on Monday 12th July and all funds raised will be split equally between our fabulous PINK causes – The Caron Keating Foundation and Target Ovarian Cancer.

“Gloria Hunniford and The Caron Keating Foundation would like to give their heartfelt thanks to world-renowned guitarist Brian May of Queen who has made this wonderful gesture in putting his personal guitar he used on the hit single I’m A Woman up for Auction, to help raise money for our Charity and for Target Ovarian Cancer. The money raised by this magnanimous gesture will go to help people dealing with Cancer, all over the country. We cannot thank Brian, WOMAN and Alpha enough.”

The WOMAN supergroup features four of rock musical theatre’s most powerful female voices and ‘We Will Rock You’ alumni – Mazz Murray, Kerry Ellis, Gina Murray and Anna-Jane Casey. This special 2020 cover on which Brian performs as well as producing, was released during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to support the work of two leading women’s cancer charities – Target Ovarian Cancer and The Caron Keating Foundation, the latter being the family run cancer charity in memory of the much loved TV personality, that was established by her mother Gloria Hunniford, and Caron’s two brothers.

WOMAN founder and close friend Mazz Murray said: “We are thinking particularly of our dear friend and fellow performer Rebekah, who we lost to Cancer, but not before she brought about a change in the rules of diagnosis and specialist referrals through which she has saved so many lives.  We remember #gorge.”

The single’s music video is truly something to behold, with May having BMG create the “World’s Pinkest Pink Guitar” for his use on the track. “Try Googling ‘pinkest pink’, May suggests. “As far as I know, this is truly the first pinkest pink guitar. It has a strange effect on the video cameras – coming out burning hot.”

The Queen main man has introduced a first for his signature model guitar– the Red Special in “World’s Pinkest Pink”.

The new version sports a fluorescent pink powdered paint developed by Stuart Semple, and was created, as May explains in an Instagram post, for May to use in the video for the charity single with WOMAN, the proceeds of which also went to the pair of women’s cancer charities.

Now with Alpha Auction, May will auction off the World’s Pinkest Pink guitar to raise additional funds for these incredible charities close to both his and the girl’s hearts.
